Funders Voice Support For CSC

September 2, 2014

Dear Friend:

The Children’s Services Council of Broward County (CSC) faces reauthorization on the November 2014 ballot. Reauthorization will allow CSC to continue to support 150 programs that serve 1 in 4 children in Broward; without reauthorization, CSC will close.
The United Way of Broward County, Community Foundation of Broward and Jewish Federation of Broward County have partnered together to lead a public education campaign to ensure Broward residents understand the invaluable work CSC funds. Because CSC stands quietly behind supported programs, few residents know its vital role in protecting 100,000 local children.
We are writing to ask your organization to join us in supporting the CSC public education campaign. As funders in our community, we know no entity can fill the gap that would be left behind if CSC no longer existed. None of us can alone do the full job of educating the residents of Broward about the importance of the Children’s Services Council, but all of us will feel the impact of its departure. That is why we are asking you to join us.
Our organizations have worked to ensure legal and tax compliance for supporters of these efforts, and non-profit groups are eligible to be part of this program. As an independent public education campaign your financial support as nonprofits or foundations is permitted by law. 100% of donations will go to this education campaign. This effort is completely separate from the private group raising funds for an advocacy campaign.
We have included a guide to answer some of your questions and a pledge form to provide your support. Should you have any questions, need more details about our plan, or be willing to help, please contact us. We hope to be able to finance these educational outreach efforts in August and September to do our part to get the word out early. Time is short. It is imperative that all nonprofit leaders show their support for the Children Services Council - it is crucial to wellbeing of Broward’s children and the vitality of our sector.
