Community Foundation of Broward Announces Three New Board Members and a New Chair

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – (January 2, 2014) – Three community leaders with extensive experience in philanthropy and  the business sector have accepted positions on the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of Broward.  
The new members join new Board Chair James Boyd LaBate. James is Senior Vice President of the LaBate Tidwell Group at Morgan Stanley who will help lead the public philanthropic organization with $160 million in assets.  LaBate is past chairman of the Broward College Foundation, graduate of Leadership Broward and board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Broward.  The Foundation’s three new members are: 
  • Louise F. Dill – former Northern Trust Director of Marketing and Managing Director of Sales and Marketing of the Eastern Region.  She is a former Board member of the Museum of Art, Bonnet House, and Broward Performing Arts Foundation. Louise also served three years on the Board at the Community Foundation of Broward before relocating to Chicago.  Louise is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin.
  • Steve W. Hudson - President of Hudson Capital Group (HCG), a private firm that invests and manages money in private equity, select start-up ventures and real estate assets.  Steve is involved in the community through numerous organizations, most recently serving as the past Chairman and longtime Board Member of the Humane Society of Broward County. He is a member of the Executive Committee and a Director for Broward Workshop.  He is also active in philanthropy through the Hudson Family Foundation Fund of the Community Foundation of Broward. 
  • Kim Sweers - Managing Partner/Majority Owner of FastBoats Marine Group (formerly, one of America's leading yacht, center console, and performance boat dealerships.  Kim currently sits on various community boards including Take Stock in Children, Youth Automotive Training Center (Advisory Board), Jack and Jill Children's Center, Broward Workshop and is the current Chairman of the Board for the Ft Lauderdale Historical Society.
